Modernfold, Inc. provides innovative products, services and solutions. Sustainability is one of the cornerstones of our corporate strategy. We promote sustainable development along our entire value chain and never lose sight of our economic, ecological and social responsibility towards future generations.

Our Approach

We promote sustainable development along our entire value chain and never lose sight of our economic, ecological and social responsibility towards future generations.

Observing local laws and internal company rules and respecting human rights are a matter of course for us, and we ensure transparency in all processes when it comes to compliance with environmental regulations. We are happy to provide declarations relating to this.

LEED® and Our Commitment to Sustainable Practices

Modernfold is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC), a national nonprofit organization that promotes responsible design and construction. A key initiative of the USGBC is the LEED® Green Building Rating System. Modernfold is an enthusiastic advocate of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a voluntary national standard for sustainable, high-performance buildings. We understand the importance of LEED certification and welcome the opportunity to provide our customers with LEED information upon request concerning any upcoming project.

Modernfold strives to recycle, reuse or salvage our materials and scrap. In our manufacturing process, efforts such as the following contribute to our green initiative:

  • Steel and aluminum chips recycled
  • Wood pallets recycled into mulch
  • Oils captured and reused
  • Cardboard recycled
  • Newsprint, magazines, and office paper recycled

Green Buildings and Declarations

Sustainability is an increasingly important factor within the construction industry. The construction and real estate sector has a major influence on resource and energy use and thus on the environment: large amounts of raw materials and energy are required to construct and then operate buildings. In an effort to minimize this substantial energy and resource consumption, various building certification systems have been established, including the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

Green building certification systems define construction product requirements, focusing on disclosure of the product’s impact on the environment as well as any potential negative health effects. Environmental product declarations (EPDs) and health product declarations (HPDs) have therefore become very important in the construction industry.

Transparency

When conducting business activities, compliance to local laws and internal company rules as well as respect of human rights and environmental regulations is of key importance at all locations. This applies both to in-house processes as well as to relationships with other external points of contact such as customers, authorities, partners and suppliers, as evidenced in dormakaba’s Modern Slavery Statement and its Supplier Code of Conduct.

Building Green by Thinking Green

Being a friend of the environment is not a new initiative at Modernfold. In fact, we’ve been practicing environmentally conscious manufacturing processes in our facilities for many years. Careful attention is paid not only to the amount of energy we consume but what we send back into the environment. As a company, we seek out ways to be environmentally friendly in how we design, how we operate our facilities and in our partnerships with suppliers who are committed to sustainable development.

Along with our efforts for recycling, we also use components in our products that are environmentally friendly.

  • 100% recycled gypsum
  • 100% NAUF MDF board
  • Use of water-based adhesives
  • Paint HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants) Free
  • Products have been documented to be 70% recyclable at end of life
