Springfield College in Massachusetts strives to “educate the whole person—spirit, mind, and body—for leadership in service to others.” That message is greatly displayed in the college’s learning commons. The Harold C. Smith Learning Commons is the on-campus center for academic life, fostering an environment of informal, collaborative, and creative work and social interaction. The learning commons brings libraries, technology, academic support, facility development and other campus services together in open and flexible spaces.
Contributing to that flexible space, Modernfold installed an Acousti-Clear® wall system with 90-degree turns to provide state-of-the-art flexibility for up to 60 people. The movable wall separates a computer/conference room area from the rest of the study area, creating much needed sound separation of 45 STC and convenience.
