Building on years of partnership, Box Studios collaborated with Modernfold distributor Modernfold Chicago to put the finishing touches on a project for Kovitz, a wealth management firm. When looking to create a flexible transition between the Kovitz employee café and a multi-purpose training room, Box Studios turned to Modernfold Chicago to explore the best possible solution.
It was clear the client was interested in a paired panel, glass operable wall. They also knew the acoustical separation between the two rooms was essential given their differing functions. And, black metal finishes were a “must-have” as well.
Working closely with the client, Modernfold Chicago evaluated two options: the PureView® glass wall system, which offers mid-range acoustical performance, and the Acousti-Clear® glass wall system, designed for maximum sound control. Ultimately, the Acousti-Clear® system was selected at a 45 STC rating, complete with automatic bottom seals and a pivot panel closure. A glass film was added post install to provide privacy to the multipurpose space while maximizing the amount of daylight to reach the café.
“While working closely with our Modernfold representative, multiple options were thoughtfully presented, and we developed a tailored solution that balanced performance, aesthetics, budget, and timeline. The final selection met all our goals functionally and aesthetically,” said Ferdinand Dimailig, Principal at BOX Studios.
Despite the compact opening, measuring just 7’-8” wide, the space remains highly flexible. When retracted, the two panels require only a 1’-9” stack depth, making the solution both efficient and visually clean.
Thanks to Modernfold Chicago’s reputation for straightforward, dependable solutions, Box Studios was able to move forward with confidence and efficiency. Today, the space functions beyond expectations, once again demonstrating the significant impact operable walls can have in any environment.
