Demountables Provide Design Harmony at Law Firm

The design team at Interior Architects faced a unique challenge for the Raleigh, NC office of Troutman Pepper Locke, a national law firm known for serving sophisticated clients. The vision was to maximize the entire length of the main floor – from reception to conference space to cafeteria - as one, unified, flexible environment.

The length of the space introduced competing priorities:

•  Maximizing daylight and openness, 

• Maintaining confidentiality for client conversations and meetings,

• Providing a large enough expanse for events, and

•  Preserving a clean, consistent architectural aesthetic. 

To address these requirements, the project team called upon local Modernfold distributor, Maxson and Associates, and visited their product showroom.  After viewing the glass Acousti-Clear® product firsthand, the client was adamant that this was the desired solution.

The Acousti-Clear demountable and operable wall systems offered:

• A Unified Look: Modernfold’s Acousti-Clear portfolio incorporated both operable glass walls as well as demountable glass walls with one unified look.  Visually, the consistent extrusions and rail components across the product family provided a seamless visual experience throughout the space. This gave the architect peace of mind from a design standpoint.  

• Sound Control:  The Acousti-Clear solution allowed for rooms to seal off with a 45 STC acoustical rating in both the fixed an operable openings. With that in place, confidential conversations could occur within the rooms as needed.  

• Demountable Ease: Unlike other demountable systems, the Acousti-Clear demountable wall incorporated a ceiling spline  and self-leveling feet at the base of the panels allowing for minimal removable elements when relocating.  In addition, there is no disassembly of glass and frames required – just relocating fully fabricated and rated glass panels and ceiling spline!

• Operable Movement: With automatic bottoms seals, the single panel operable walls can easily be set up or taken down by a single user.  And, the pivot panel provides additional egress and flow in the space.
