LEED® and Our Commitment to Sustainable Practices
Modernfold is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC), a national nonprofit organization that promotes responsible design and construction. A key initiative of the USGBC is the LEED® Green Building Rating System. Modernfold is an enthusiastic advocate of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a voluntary national standard for sustainable, high-performance buildings. We understand the importance of LEED certification and welcome the opportunity to provide our customers with LEED information upon request concerning any upcoming project.

Building Green by Thinking Green
Being a friend of the environment is not a new initiative at Modernfold. In fact, we’ve been practicing environmentally conscious manufacturing processes in our facilities for many years. Careful attention is paid not only to the amount of energy we consume but what we send back into the environment. As a company, we seek out ways to be environmentally friendly in how we design, how we operate our facilities and in our partnerships with suppliers who are committed to sustainable development.
|
|
Modernfold strives to recycle, reuse or salvage our materials and scrap. In our manufacturing process, efforts such as the following contribute to our green initiative:
- Steel and aluminum chips recycled
- Wood pallets recycled into mulch
- Oils captured and reused
- Cardboard recycled
- Newsprint, magazines, and office paper recycled
|
|
Along with our efforts for recycling, we also use components in our products that are environmentally friendly.
- 100% recycled gypsum
- 100% NAUF MDF board
- Use of water-based adhesives
- Paint HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants) Free
- Products have been documented to be 70% recyclable at end of life
|
We believe that environmentally friendly practices make us more efficient and help us manage our costs, which in turn benefits the architect, the designer, the facility owner—and the community.
